Our Story
Quince and Apple is the absolute perfect job for us, because we love being together and we love food.
-Matt and Clare Stoner Fehsenfeld
*Philosophy*
Quince and Apple is based on relationships – with the people who grow our produce, the people who buy our preserves, and our community. We strive to build those relationships with every decision we make.
Quince and Apple is driven by values. We want everything we do to reflect our values and to be of the highest quality.
Quince and Apple is committed to sustainability. We develop ongoing relationships with farmers from Wisconsin and beyond who we trust to make sustainable choices. We are mindful of the environmental impact of doing business and look for low-impact options in our production, packing and shipping.
And, we do business with other companies who share our values.
*Bio*
Quince and Apple has been decades in the making. Clare comes from a long line of entrepreneurs, starting with her great-grandfather, who founded his business during the Great Depression. Chef (and husband) Matt ran an organic food co-op, got his culinary degree and worked in high-end dining before moving into food production. While Matt is in the kitchen, developing recipes, hand-cutting shallots for hours and pasting labels on jars, Clare is the strategy lady and sits around reading books like “Good to Great”. (And she also does some real work, like web sales.) They both share a passion for excellent food and cook all their meals at home from a CSA box, except for the times when they spend all their expendable income eating at really nice restaurants. Their goal is to create the highest quality, most innovative and values-driven preserves – and business – possible.
